Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter softened, for greasing
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 can (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
  • 1.33 cup French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with the butter.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Fold in the green beans and 2/3 cup of the French fried onions.
  5. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling around the edges.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining French fried onions over the casserole.
  8. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an even topping, spread the first portion of French fried onions evenly through the casserole. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce can separate. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free butter, milk, and condensed mushroom soup.
