Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 1 tsp neutral oil for greasing
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 4 can (14.5 oz) green beans cut, drained
For the topping
  • 1 package (2.8 oz) French fried onions

Equipment

  • 1 6-quart slow cooker

Method

Cook the casserole
  1. Rub the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with the oil.
  2. Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper together in the slow cooker.
  3. Fold in the drained green beans until coated.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until hot throughout.
Finish with the topping
  1. Sprinkle the French fried onions evenly over the casserole just before serving, leaving the slow cooker uncovered so the onions stay crisp.

Notes

For the crispest topping, add the French fried onions just before serving. Refrigerate leftovers for 3 to 4 days; freezing is not recommended because the sauce and topping can lose their texture.
